Why?
Entry into a new market is always the biggest challenge for any company whether small or big. The success of the same, is highly dependent on the marketing strategy put in place. Better yet, the team you entrust to do the mind work is critical. A good team must equal good strategy.
In 2014, Huawei was to forge ahead with the launch of their new high-end phone the “Ascend P7”. This was to be Huawei’s first major flagship smartphone launch on a global scale. We were charged with creating an effective PR and digital strategy for the Kenyan market space.
The core of our strategy was to position Huawei as a brand to look out for and need with a consumer centric approach. this was tied into a pre, during and post 360 marketing strategy which involved;

A Successful Product Strategy
We touted the new HUAWEI P7 as a “selfie smartphone” as at the time it redefined smartphone excellence with a 5-inch full high definition display, industry-leading 8MP front-facing and 13MP rear-facing cameras. The sales results of the HUAWEI Ascend P7 were significantly impressive thus demonstrating HUAWEI’s success from the mid-to high-end market.

Increased Brand Awareness
The media coverage was admirably extensive, with major stations, newspapers, and radio stations highlighting the flagship phone, the event, and Huawei’s stand in the market. this went ahead to increase consumer awareness, position the brand among key players, and provide thought leadership in all related fields of the industry.

Digital Marketing
This is the product that kicked off the popular “selfie” word connotation as we know today. Huawei Ascend P7 was marketed across digital platforms with the aim of achieving a strong online presence.
The conversion rates were amazing to say the least.
