This is Kilifi is a digital platform launched on December, 2018 by the Kilifi County Government. The platform was designed to act as a navigation and informational tool for Kilifi potential visitors. Therefore, providing a link to historical sites, heritage sites, cultural sites, beaches, amenities, hotels, and attractions found in Kilifi.

This is Kilifi was an incredible platform built with the best intentions but significantly lacking in its brand design, digital marketing, and PR strategy. This lead to the county having a dormant platform not known or recognized by its target audience and thus losing its functionality and relevance. EKAR was tasked to build a brand design and marketing strategy that would help raise awareness, influence and use of the platforms with the right audience.

Website Design

Initially, there was a site developed for This is Kilifi but again it lacked two critical aspects aesthetic beauty and user responsiveness. We have some of the best website developers in the house and one creative team. We created a sitemap that would accommodate all the needs of the user while easing their navigation. The website was developed in the most appealing design from scratch, with the use of breathtaking images, and amazing content. See it all here.

Digital Marketing

This is Kilifi is majorly an online platform and thus its target market is first hand available online. We created a Digital Marketing Strategy for This is Kilifi which involved a study of its competitors, an identification of its USP & its target audience. All these aspects would define the website, the ads, and the look of its social media accounts.

This went on to attract a valuable number of visitors to the website and social media pages, create great engagement, and resultantly convince many that Kilifi is an ideal tourism destination. The reviews were particularly positive from people who used the platform to understand Kilifi before making traveling arrangements.

 

PR & Marketing

Nothing soars an idea better than its stakeholders. PR & Marketing played a critical role in stakeholder engagement. Identified stakeholders in this case included; the general public & the local community (e.g.interested travelers & Kilifi locals), Collective bodies (e.g. associations, federations, organizations) & Media of local level and Companies and industries (e.g. hotels in Kilifi).

We were able to garner an extensive number of eyeballs of the Platform, enough to bring in enthusiastic stakeholders to support the platform, especially hotel owners in Kilifi, various associations of Kilifi such as Kilifi Beach Cleaners, and the Kilifi county on matters infrastructure. .
