Vivo is a smartphone brand that not many people in Kenya knew about. The Chinese smartphone Company was founded in 2009 and mainly focused on India and South East Asia markets. Being at number 5 was an impressive factor for the company given that it is not officially available in all markets. In efforts to tap into new markets, Vivo announced its intention to expand operations to 6 new markets in the coming months. One of those markets being Kenya.
What they were struggling with was the right entry brand positioning strategy to stamp its mark in the local market and capture the right target market.
We developed a customer centric marketing approach which would play a key role in identifying the market gaps in the smartphone industry, maximize on ways to capture consumer attention and provide avenues for media interest.
Media Liaison
We liaised extensively with different media; acting as the point of contact, gaining publicity and disseminating information, and promoting the image of the company with members of the press and other media representatives. The success achieved was highly dependent on our strong interpersonal skills and years of built relations. The biggest part of the job was networking and promoting the work of the company.

Media Coverage.
Our use of the media as a promotional tool was a success as we were to reach a large audience at a favorable cost for the company. We gained over 24 million eyeballs in TV, Radio, Print, and Digital Media. The tone of content on all platforms was positive denoting a positive influence in market perception and response to the Vivo brand and products.
Event Organization
At EKAR, an event has the potential of providing the ultimate marketing experience for both the company and its target audience. The goal is to create an event that blends in the vision of your client and the expectations of your audience.
The objective for the Vivo Event was to launch its new V17 phone brand in the market and make a bold entry into the Kenyan market as a Smartphone brand to be watched in the industry. Our first angle was to create an event that would be exciting in relevance to its look, style, format and positioning.
Our design team, came up with an excellent event program that aligned speakers, entertainment, catering, and delivered powerful presentations. We created compelling copy, used a variety of promotional media and calls to action, sold the benefits of the Vivo Phone, used social media live streaming, incentivized attendance with gift hampers, and defined an effective method of registration.
We term the event successful as we had a 94% attendance, positive feedback from attendees, excellent media coverage (over 24 million eyeballs), and most importantly a satisfied client.
